Sound Healing Therapy

Sound healing is a growing form of therapy that can create rapid and profound changes. As the name suggests, the sessions use music and sound as the medium for healing and clients who do not want to necessarily explore an issue in depth using traditional talk therapy find this very refreshing.

Sound healing works on the premise that we are all essentially energetic beings. As a result, sound ie: frequency, is able to penetrate the body and effect change. We all have experienced music touching us deeply on an emotional level , say for example in a love song, a high energy song that makes us feel euphoric , or a sad song that sums up a situation we are currently in.

But sound healing work goes deeper, as it really does work with the energy of the body, both on a cellular level and with what we refer to as the energy field or Biofield of the body. Here, areas that have built up or blockages can be shifted via the sound frequency and brought into alignment. We refer to illnesses as disease, which literally can be thought of as dis - ease within the body. When we suffer stress trauma, grief and fear we store that as emotional reactions which are basically draining us, making us feel out of sorts, deflated, fatigued or depressed. By working with sound we can facilitate a release of these emotions in our cells, along with an increase of nitric oxide and serotonin production. This impacts our whole being on a physical, emotional and mental level and consequently frees us up to live much healthier, well balanced lives.

You may also have heard of brain wave entrainment, and the use of binaural beats has become popular in recent years. In sound healing therapy we can create optimum brain wave states to induce deep relaxation and aid healing. The purpose is to create a state of flow in which wave patterns come into synchronicity ( like the experiment with grandfather clocks that eventually all come to align with each other ). Here we are able to have a huge impact on decreasing levels of stress and shifting from fight/responses into a state of balance within the autonomic nervous system. Combined with the tuning forks and other instruments I have helped many clients experience a significantly greater sense of calm , better sleep, greater confidence and general well- being.

Ancient civilisations such as the Egyptians used sound therapy in this way. Indigenous cultures have long understood the power of sound as a vehicle for release, for connection and deep healing and now more recent scientific study is enabling us to bring these elements together and offer therapy that is truly effective for modern day issues.

In conjunction with sound healing sessions, I offer a body scan using the Bio Well. This technology is able to create readable data about the client's Biofield, chakra alignment and Autonomic nervous system balance. This can then be used to chart progress through a series of sound healing sessions.

"When you take the time to draw on your listening-imagination, you will begin to hear this gentle voice at the heart of your life. It is deeper and surer than all the other voices of disappointment, unease, self-criticism, and bleakness. All holiness is about learning to hear the voice of your own soul. "
